Facebook will alter the way it administers its conditions of service (TOS) for 1 ) 5 million users in The african continent, Asia, Australia and Latin The united states, the company confirmed today. Though customers in those territories previously decided to TOS dictated by the company’ ersus corporate entity in the EU country of Ireland, now they must legitimately agree to be bound by the US-based corporation’ s terms.
The move, reported by Reuters today, comes as the EU works on to begin enforcing the General Data Security Regulation (GDPR) next month, and it implies that only European Facebook users can immediately gain the personal data defenses offered by the law. Facebook keeps, however , that the shift has nothing to do with GDPR, despite the timing, and says that users everywhere will get the same personal privacy protection.
